Those who watch Nickleodeon (or who are old enough) might remember the Andy Griffith Show, which aired between 1960 and 1968. The town of Mayberry was thought to be in North Carolina. Romantic notions aside, there’s no such city as Mayberry but in the state’s northwest corner, there is a town remarkably like, named Mount Airy. It was in fact this attractive mountain community that acted as the inspiration for the town in which Sheriff Andy, the endearing and bumbling Deputy Barney, Aunt Bea and a host of other unforgettable characters lived out their fictional lives on prime time for 8 seasons.
